"description": "🦌 A lesson about respecting the environment told with the set dressing of a horror film. It succeeds by focusing on the narrative it introduces and avoiding a heavy-handed lecturing directed at the viewer. I loved it. Jesse Plemons is perpetually underrated Keri Russell is a capable, compelling lead. A tale of trauma, abuse and tragedy set in a visually stunning small town in Oregon rapidly devolves into harrowing and visceral horror. It's character driven, it's as dark visually as it is thematically and speaks to the macro-scale environmental horror we're all facing as a society by reducing it to a tangible, natural monster striking out at anyone that crosses its path. What we're doing to address climate change and protect the environment is roughly as effective as the characters trying to poke the wendigo repeatedly with a sharp stick (or blindly firing guns at it).",
