We've got franchises! Is this anywhere near as good as Die Hard 1-25? No, but it's fun . I signed on for a big dumb action movie and got a big dumb action movie. I could've headed this whole thing off though. Is your friend a military contractor? Yes? Well, then they're not your friend. Their friend is money and they have neither a soul nor scruples. Boom. Since I'm not in this movie and Gerard Butler is, we get lots of gunfire and many heroic acts that I would never be capable of. We also get Nick Nolte as Tom Waits as Clay Banning (Gerard's dad). Sit back, don't think too hard and have fun. Of course the VP was a bad guy. He's totally spineless and conniving — we've got buckets of those politicians and this dork even promises to \"make the country strong again\" or something similarly derivative of an altogether asinine phrase that's dominated our particular discourse for eons longer than it should. It's stupidity as a blunt rhetorical instrument. Also — why are we privatizing critical government functions like, well, the military? We already spend too much money on that and private companies are going to do it worse, for more money and then come back and blame you when they screw up. Sorry. It's fun, watch it if you feel like it.",
