"description": "I like heist movies and this was a perfectly decent heist movie. Tyrese is a strong, reliable lead, Scott Eastwood is a welcome sight (unlike his father — shoo, shoo go away). Ray Liotta delivers a classic Liotta bad guy performance (he was good at that — he was quite intimidating). A crew of robbers uses the 1992 LA riots as cover to commit a crime. The riots were a result of the violent beating of Rodney King and subsequent (utterly appalling) acquittal of said officers by a jury in Simi Valley, California. Unfortunately this movie isn't as successful as I'd like, much like the heist that anchors the whole narrative. It's violent, there's action, I have sympathy for (some of) the characters and it ends with degrees of redemption and humility...but it doesn't land quite right. I dunno. The context is compelling, the performances are strong, but the whole is less than the sum of its parts. It's worth a watch, but it's not up there with the better heist movies I've seen.",
