"description": "Insightful, funny, poignant and unapologetic. Peter Hook renders the tale of Joy Division's founding, trials, success and tragic dissolution in an honest, charming and heartbreaking fashion. I'm not the most dedicated fan of the band (or New Order — though I recognize and appreciate the significance of both), but found this hard to put down. It's clear that Hook loved and appreciated Ian Curtis and the rest of the band (even while getting a few shots in) and the best stories of musicians, bands and their flaws often come from the folks right there through it all. All of the anecdotes Hook has from his time with the band are priceless and his description of how he first heard and took the news of Curtis' death is crushing. I have a feeling I'll be on a music memoir bender after this one. But — for now — it's time to throw on Unknown Pleasures .",
