> The 75-year-old had lived in Auckland for 40 years after he married New Zealand woman Fari LaPread.

> LaPread’s daughter, music producer Soraya LaPread, confirmed the news on social media on Sunday.

> “It’s with a very heavy heart that I must announce that my father Ronald LaPread has passed,” she said on Instagram.

> Originally from Alabama, LaPread was the bass player for the Tuskegee group from 1970 to 1986, playing on 11 of their albums.
