Pianist-composer Orrin Evans is a Trenton native and veteran of the Philadelphia and worldwide jazz scenes. He leads his own small groups as well as the powerful Captain Black Big Band. Evans’ most recent recording, “The Red Door,” features a roster of all-stars including trumpeter Nicholas Payton, tenor saxophonist Larry McKenna and drummer Marvin “Smitty” Smith. His previous work has garnered several Grammy nominations.
