Vancouver Bach Choir gives 135-year-old mass its Canadian debut

This week, the Vancouver Bach Choir presents a new-to-Vancouver work, a performance of a grand concert mass for soloists, large choir and orchestra. While this is very much the sort of thing the choir is known to do in the pre-Easter season, this particular work will be something of a surprise to choral fans. Dame Ethel Smyth’s 1891 mass has been around even longer than Vancouver’s oldest choir, which is coming up to its centennial year in just a few more seasons, yet this is its Canadian premiere.
