  "textContent": "I think that B.C.'s deferral of publicly funded long-term care projects in this budget is appalling and short-sighted. As a boomer turning 70, I've been trying to care for two parents in their late 90s who have both been wait-listed for long-term care in another province for a year and counting. Their prospects are absolutely grim. I see a similar future for my generation. Expect MAID application rates to rise even further, as people discover that 24 hours of private in-home care can easily cost $24,000 per month.
