"textContent": "## Changes and updates\n\n * Update _Tor Browser_ to 15.0.14.\n\n * Remove _Thunderbird_.\n\nYou can still install Thunderbird as additional\nsoftware.\n\nIf you have both the **Thunderbird Email Client** and **Additional Software** features of the Persistent Storage turned on, Tails automatically adds _Thunderbird_ to your list of additional\nsoftware.\n\nA new version of _Thunderbird_ is released in Debian shortly after each Tails releases, because both _Tails_ and _Thunderbird_ follow the release calendar\nof Firefox. As a consequence, until Tails 7.5 (February 2026), the version of _Thunderbird_ in Tails was almost always outdated, with known security vulnerabilities.\n\nBy installing _Thunderbird_ as additional software, the latest version of _Thunderbird_ is installed automatically from your Persistent Storage each time you start Tails.\n\n\n\n\n## Fixed problems\n\n * Fix multiple security vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel and haveged, that could allow an application in Tails to gain administration privileges.\n\nFor example, if an attacker was able to exploit other unknown security vulnerabilities in an application included in Tails, they might then use one of these vulnerabilities to take full control of your Tails and deanonymize you.\n\n\n\n\nFor more details, read our changelog.\n\n## Get Tails 7.8\n\n### To upgrade your Tails USB stick and keep your Persistent Storage\n\n * Automatic upgrades are available from Tails 7.0 or later to 7.8.\n\n * If you cannot do an automatic upgrade or if Tails fails to start after an automatic upgrade, please try to do a manual upgrade.\n\n\n\n\n### To install Tails 7.8 on a new USB stick\n\nFollow our installation instructions:\n\n * Install from Windows\n\n * Install from macOS\n\n * Install from Linux\n\n * Install from Debian or Ubuntu using the command line and GnuPG\n\n\n\n\nThe Persistent Storage on the USB stick will be lost if you install instead of upgrading.\n\n### To download only\n\nIf you don't need installation or upgrade instructions, you can download Tails 7.8 directly:\n\n * For USB sticks (USB image)\n\n * For DVDs and virtual machines (ISO image)\n\n\n\n\n## Support and feedback\n\nFor support and feedback, visit the Support\nsection on the Tails website.\n\n * \n tails\n \n * \n releases\n \n\n",
