Disney Kids & Family Greenlits “Journey” Created By Matt Munn In First Collaboration With Barack Obama And Michelle Obama’s Company Higher Ground

Let’s take a trip to our magical destiny! 🗺️🐉 Back in February 2024, we reported on a potential Disney Television Animation project “Journey” described as a epic animated comedy set in medieval times since then we barely had any updates…. until now.

Disney Kids & Family and President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama ’s Higher Ground are joining forces to greenlight music-driven, original animated fantasy series “Journey ” created byMatt Munn.

Journey’s greenlit is part of a week of multiple animated announcements of **Disney Kids & Family **ahead of the Annecy Festival running from June 22 to June 26.

When the energy shield protecting her city begins to fail, Journey answers a mysterious call that leads her beyond its walls — and into the forbidden lands beyond. In this new world, she uncovers the truth about her father’s disappearance and discovers a powerful magic within herself that may hold the key to saving her people.

“** Journey** " is created by Matt Munn (Blue Sky Studios "Ice Age: Collision Course”, “Ferdinand”, "Spies in Disguise", Anaapurna Animation “Nimona”) , who will serve as executive producer alongside Peabody Award winnerSteve Loter (“Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur”, “The Ghost And Molly McGee”, QAmerican Dragon Jake Long", “Kim Possible”). Jessie Dicovitsky is an executive producer alongside Barack Obama and Michelle Obama for Higher Ground.

ICON Creative Studio (“Sofia The First: Royal Magic”, “Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol”, “Monsters At Work”, “Ariel”, “Firebuds” and the upcoming“Monstropolis” land atDisney’s Hollywood Studios) will provide the animation services for the series.

Besides “Journey”, Disney Television Animation currently has five upcoming projects for Disney Channel and Disney+ currently under NDA which likely will be unveiled this week or during the Annecy Festival.

The studio’s currently is producing a NDA action-adventure series in collaboration withJeff Swampy Marsh ’s animation studio Surfing Giant Studios , Projects in development at the studio include a new show byIan Jones-Quartey (Cartoon Network Studios “OK K.O! Let’s Be Heroes) and ”Poic And Pica “ by Elsa Duhamel. SAG-AFTRA recently listed two potential new projects "Fuzz” and “Suburbion” , all five projects are for Disney Channel and Disney+.
