The Walt Disney Company’s CEO Josh D'Amaro Asked About The Potential “Figment” Movie By Point Grey Pictures During Disney’s Annual Shareholders Meeting, 2026
As Josh D'Amaro starts his tenure as The Walt Disney Company’s newest CEO, he was asked about the status of the potential “Figment” movie by Point Grey Pictures during the Shareholders Meeting Q&A session.
However, something interesting happened while he stated that he couldn’t announce anything today about a movie or a ride update: D'Amaro pointed to the success of the recent “How NOT To Draw” short by Disney Television Animation Multiplatform with the character released early this month.
“There it is chuckles. I love the fact that there is so much adoration for Figment. He’s stood the test of time as a fan favorite, and he clearly continues to spark creativity and imagination across generations. Disney is currently exploring new ways for guests and fans to engage with Figment. The TV Animation unit recently released a new "How Not To Draw” short starring the character which was a huge sucess. I think that’s really cool. I love the question, but I don’t have anything to announce today.“ - Josh D'Amaro
Back in September 2022, it was announced that Walt Disney Studios and Seth Rogen’s production company, Point Grey Pictures, were developing a movie based on the beloved theme-park character “Figment ”. The film would have “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit set to pen the script. In September 2025, insider Daniel RPK mentioned that the film got greenlit at the studio and that it would be live-action/animation hybrid akin to Warner Bros Pictures. Animation’s “Space Jam”, “Looney Tunes: Back In Action” and “Coyote Vs. ACME” and Disney’s “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, “Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)” and Jon Favreau’s “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit”.
Last January, The DisInsider that the film’s plans got scrapped with Point Grey Pictures and Disney retooling the project as potential series either as an live-action/animated hybrid series like the upcoming "Oswald The Lucky Rabbit ” show by Jon Favreau or a fully animated series obviously done by Disney Television Animation.
As far as I know, Disney canceled the idea of movie and is looking to turn this into some sort of Figment series. Whether or not it is animated or live-action, I am not entirely sure.
The “ Figment ” project at Point Grey Pictures is part of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s current overall development deal with Disney Entertainment across movies and television. Other projects included the recently successful “** The Muppet Show** ” special, a “ Darkwing Duck ” reboot/sequel series with Disney Television Animation for Disney+, and “** Chippendales** ” at 20th Century Studios.
