Disney Television Studios CEO Craig Erwich On “The Muppet Show” (2026) “Celebrating A Moment From When The Show First Came Out”.

Craig Erwich, who oversees Disney Television Studios, Hulu and Disney Branded Television programming alongside Ayo Davis sat down with The Hollywood Reporter where he discussed what’s next for “ Descendants”, “Zombies”, “The Muppets” and reveals a new series adult animated series from the ’Bluey ’ creator Joe Brumm for Hulu.

While discussing bringing back properties like “Malcom In The Middle”, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, “Descendants”. Erwich put “The Muppet Show” as a big example in how they actually bring back the properties to connect with both old and new audiences.

“It’s the same thing for the Muppets, which we (re-launched) two weeks ago. It’s one of the crown jewels of the Disney company. People have such deep memories and affection for the original franchise as part of their childhood, as something they want to share with their kids. And we really put up a classic version of it that created conversation. It has Sabrina Carpenter, who is among the most original contemporary artists. Suddenly that felt like a moment in 2026 that also was celebrating a moment from when the show first came out.” — Craig Erwich
