Monitoring workflow

Has anyone implemented a reliable monitoring workflow for free hosting environments? One challenge I’ve noticed during outages is that different services can remain available while the website itself becomes unreachable. For example, FTP and file management may continue working even when visitors cannot access the site. I’m curious how other users here monitor and troubleshoot these situations: * What tools do you use to verify whether an issue is DNS-related, server-related, or network-related? * Do you rely on uptime monitoring services? * How do you distinguish between a local connectivity issue and a hosting infrastructure problem? * Have you found any effective methods for receiving outage alerts before users report them? In my experience, collecting information from multiple sources (DNS checks, HTTP response monitoring, traceroutes, and external uptime monitors) helps narrow down the root cause much faster.
