Admin: > I’ve met plenty of people who don’t even know what UTC is (they only know it as GMT) Interestingly, at the moment they are both the same, but they don’t have to be. GMT is based on when our view of the sun crosses the Prime Meridian line (0 degrees longitude) and is measured at Greenwich Observatory, London, UK, that sits precisely on that line. Because of the way our orbit & rotation work, this can drift slightly UTC is based on atomic clocks time keeping, and so does not drift at all. Therefore UTC and GMT could come out of ~~sink~~ sync eventually. However, based on current reading and understand of timezones that probably wont be till 2600. So none of us need to worry about it (unless there’s an immortal on here, in which case, by 2600 time will probably be totally different anyway lol) -edit- Spelling correction sink vs sync. Thanks @Meishin for pointing out that mistake
