You’re completely right.\n\nThe time zone designations are not globally unique. CST can be Central Standard Time, China Standard Time or Cuba Standard Time. And that “central” time is the US central time, not the Australian Central Standard Time, which is ACST, but an Aussie unaware of that might incorrectly assume that CST actually refers to their CST. Which, TIL, is UTC+9:30. Yes, that’s a half hour offset.\n\nIt’s a shame how little most people understand of this. I’ve met plenty of people who don’t even know what UTC is (they only know it as GMT).",
