Can i use captchas to prevent bots

Our hosting is pretty well protected against bots out of the box, but using CAPTCHAs for forms that are likely to be abused is still a good measure to take. There is nothing on our hosting that would prevent CAPTCHAs from working. But CAPTCHAs come in many forms, work in different ways and have different requirements. Can you tell more about the specific CAPTCHA functionality in your website software? Is it an internal thing or does it use a third party service like Google reCAPTCHA? And what do you see when you try to use it?
