"textContent": "Hey, it’s Punk This Week, a weekend newsletter blast with new punk and rock’n’roll recommendations. This week we’re listening to Marbled Eye’s new one and four garage punk greats with records on the iconic label Goodbye Boozy. Sweeping Promises, Alien Nosejob, and Smirk preview their next albums. Looking for unbelievable hardcore records from G.U.N., Total Con, and more sick bands? You’ve made it to a column that will tell you about those things.\n\nsee/saw is a reader-supported independent publication, so if you want blurbs about all the great new punk records delivered to your inbox every week, definitely subscribe for $4/month or $40/year or barter. (NOTAFLOF; hit me up and we’ll work something out.) There’s a two-week free trial if you want to see what it’s like. The perks of the paid subscription are these weekly columns, plus bonus podcasts and the radio archive. Any support is genuinely massive. Thanks for considering, please share if you like what I do, and enjoy the weekend.\n\n* * *\n\n**Marbled Eye:** Forever**[Digital Regress]**\n\nOakland’s Marbled Eye makes the kind of post-punk record that demands to be played loud. To get a full scope of what this band’s doing so extremely well, it’s good if you let _Forever_ completely overpower you. The grim vocals from both Chris Natividad and Michael Lucero, mixed together with some catchy-as-fuck hooks, propel this band to new heights.\n\nIt’s an impressive feat that this their best written and best _sounding_ record considering the quality of their 2024 album _Read the Air_. (Go back to that one if you haven’t heard it.) Marbled Eye are a band that paints in contrasts, like when the guitars explore a simple but stellar guitar solo high up the neck while the vocals ponder from the deep end. This is authoritative and expansive music; a turntable’s dream.\n\n* * *\n\n### This post is for subscribers only\n\nBecome a member to get access to all content\n\nSubscribe now",
