playlist: the 50 best punk songs of march 2026
see/saw has been going for two years, which culminated in a big party last Saturday in Minneapolis. The Sleaze, Kilynn Lunsford, Bermuda Squares, TY, Miracle Debt, BUIO OMEGA, and W-9 all killed. A lot of people showed up; a few folks said some extremely kind things to me. It’s an understatement to call it a very good night.
In summer 2025, I’d booked a show that ended up at a storied punk house. It was under threat, but it was back, and the turnout was outstanding. A friend from the city who isn’t embedded in the punk scene showed up, looked around, gestured and said “you did this.” But the truth is that I really didn’t do much. People were celebrating the return of a deeply important community space. They were celebrating a beautiful summer night with each other. No one person is responsible for good nights.
It had been a nasty, fucked up winter in Minneapolis; the aftershocks are absolutely still reverberating and people still need help. But on a beautiful spring weekend, I did what my therapist encouraged me to do—I looked around the bar and watched how much people were enjoying themselves. Last month, I threw four see/saw shows, and none of them would’ve happened or been any good if it hadn’t been for the people who showed up.
The year 2 show really filled my cup. I went to bed afterward listening to punk music and stayed up until 5am replaying the entire night back in my head. After two years of doing see/saw, it turns out I really love this shit. I don’t think I’d keep doing all this stuff if it wasn’t for the community. Bullshitting with my friends on Discord about records, hearing that people find new favorites from the columns, learning that people love the podcast—it’s a quality existence.
I used to be super transparent about how things are going for see/saw in these monthly playlist blogs, so here’s an update at the second year mark: 3,103 people total have subscribed at some point. 655 of those people are behind the paywall. That’s super humbling for what’s ultimately a niche punk newsletter with no publisher safety net.
If you enjoy this playlist and you don’t already, please consider subscribing to see/saw. If you already do subscribe, take a minute to tell your fellow sickos about this thing that I do. I love that people keep finding this thing. To another year of see hyphen saw dot fun.
