My ATmosphere

For the last little while, I've been experimenting with ATproto tools and apps. Those who follow me on BlueSky, itself an ATproto app, will have seen some of the things I've been experimenting with. I'm working on a post that is essentially a huge list of all things available in the ATmosphere and my thoughts on them but it's taking me forever and a day, so until that's ready I thought I'd do a post of the ATmosphere apps I'm regularly using and where I want you to follow me.

If you're curious about some of the apps I've checked out and my initial thoughts on them, check out my Semble collection or find a big list of apps in the ATstore.

Leaflet

Obviously, we have to start where we are! What you're reading right now is on Leaflet. There are a few blogging options in the ATmosphere (which I've listed below) but honestly, Leaflet is the best option right now. They update incredibly often, they let you have an unlimited number of blogs plus public documents, their posting structure is intuitive and theme customization is so easy with an abundance of options! I can't even begin to tell you all the ways in which I love Leaflet.

Two other promising blogging platforms are Offprint and pckt - I've used them less at this point and they're lower priority for me. There are other options if you like markdown but so far, these are the best ones I've found.

pollen.place

I absolutely love pollen.place. My only complaint is that more people haven't discovered it yet! It is honestly one of my favorite ATmosphere apps and I check into it multiple times a day. It's essentially a Tumblr-alternative but really it's just another social network to add to the list. There's so many different post types and customization options and I just love the look and feel of the place.

Semble

I don't know what it is about the ATmosphere but these people really love bookmarking! There are so many bookmarking apps available and each offers essentially the same tools - bookmarking via extensions, annotations or notes of some kind, tags or folders or collections to keep things organized. Some of the apps are fully developed and some are clearly in early stages.

Of all of them, Semble seems to be the most fleshed out and the most used. I like gathering up all the ATproto tools I'm using and then seeing what other apps people relate to them. I've found a few good tools this way.

Popfeed

If you're looking to track what you're reading, watching, listening to or playing, Popfeed is the way to go! There are quite a few tracking apps in the ATmosphere and they're all trying to do the same thing but Popfeed is the one that I go back to again and again.

I am still experimenting with other available apps like BookHive and Collective Social but so far, none of them feel as good to me as Popfeed.

Grain

There's a lot of photo/video apps in the ATmosphere and I'm not really a photo/video person, especially if I have to download an app to my phone! There are even a few "clients" that just show you media posts from BlueSky (such as Pinkleap and GridSky).

I haven't really explored the video options, just because I don't really make sfw videos and don't wanna be the first to upload nsfw stuff.

Grain is very similar to Instagram and let's you label your posts so that you can post nsfw but still make sure people aren't seeing anything they don't wanna see. I've been enjoying sharing some of my nature photography there.

Honorable Mentions

These are either (a) ATmosphere apps that I'm on and using but that are still major works in progress, so they're not high priority updates for me or (b) ATmosphere apps that I just started experimenting with and want to use more before fully committing. These may end up ultimately not being used or maybe I'll end up using them all the time!

So now, I'm dying to know:
