"plaintext": "Part 1\n\nI was very excited to read 1984 - it had been on my list for decades! It was never available at the library when I wanted it, never available to purchase when I was able to buy, had always been something I just couldn't get my hands on. So I was very excited to finally read it.\n\nI was excited to read about Newspeak and doublethink and Big Brother and the Thought Police. So Part 1 was great reading. Orwell painted a lovely picture of the world we were stepping into and it was vividly depicted and I was fully entrenched in the story.\n\nPart 2\n\nWhile I really appreciated the way Orwell told this forbidden love story, I was often underwhelmed. I didn't enjoy the Julia character, I didn't enjoy Winston liking her all of a sudden, I didn't like the whole setup which felt predictable, annoying, laborious and just slightly unnecessary in the face of what we could all foresee coming. It was easier to read than Part 1 and Part 3.\n\nPart 3\n\nMy goodness, I hated Part 3! Like gritting my teeth through sandpaper, just absolutely hated it. I put the book down every other page and would have to force myself to pick it back up again. The endless droning on of the same things over and over, the needless explaining and re-explaining all these concepts that had already been laid bare in the previous parts, the boring monologues by O'Brien. The whole thing was just... grating! \n\nYes, the imagery in this final part was super well written. Yes, it was the logical conclusion that we were being lead to all along. Yes, it was good writing. But man, it was just some serious effort in reading and I felt like it ruined, entirely, the whole rest of the book!\n\nFinal Thoughts\n\nI'm glad I finally got to read this book although I really don't think I gained anything from doing so and I don't think I would go out of my way to recommend it to others. It didn't stir up strong feelings in me, it didn't make me react one way or another, it didn't teach me anything or make me want to never put it down. It was just some words artfully constructed. \n\nOverall, it's just made me want to read Animal Farm again..."
