Feature Discussion • Re: idea: seperate service for tracking on-person items So moving from server to server can keep personal items.
this can ONLY work if luanti impliment a global account management system like minecraft (PLEASE dont do this EVER)
This sort of idea has been conceived before. Usually the solution is not a global system but federation, where servers mutually agree to share and recognise each other.
so you want me to send user-data to random servers i dont know ? since there are SO MANY servers out there i REALLY dont like sending data like passwords (even when hashed) to random guys. and if i only send them to a couple i trust ( and everyone else does the same ) you would have many small groups of server and the problem start again: what if a user want ther inv shared between servers of different groups? so IF you want to address this type of feature you HAVE to do it globaly where the user data is stored in a global database so the user login to it and it then says my server "hey, he is legit, trust me bro" and i, since the database is hosted by luanti itself, can indead trust it.
