Symbolic links on Windows are not widely known (one reason is that you can only create them using a command line). In Linux, symbolic links are more common (I am a former Linux user, but have been forced to use Windows). Why do you prefer junctions nowadays in Windows rather than Windows soft-links?
I always preferred junctions for their appearance, with the link symbol in the corner of the directory icon or a specific indication in a dir command output, whereas with links you couldn't really tell they were links. I think you need admin to even make symlinks as well, which is just kinda weird. Junctions work across file systems as well.
