Maryland opioid deaths hit 10-year low, down 57% since pandemic peak

Opioid-related overdose deaths in Maryland have decreased by 57% since spiking during the COVID-19 pandemic, falling from more than 2,500 opioid-related-overdose deaths then to just under 1,100 in 2025, a Capital News Service analysis found.
