Last link of Purple Line rail installed; rail service still more than year away

The long-delayed light rail Purple Line project connecting Montgomery County to Prince George’s County took a step forward Thursday when the final piece of track was hammered into place in Silver Spring by local dignitaries swinging sledgehammers.
