Initial returns on IT and data sales tax falling short of estimates, as state grapples with budget

A controversial IT sales tax was supposed to bring in $500 million, but is currently on track to raise about $50 million. Still, budget analysts and fiscal leaders are optimistic that new revenue numbers to be released Wednesday will show an overall gain.
