"**Man shot, killed as Charles County deputies attempted to serve warrant**"

"textContent": "Deputies shot and killed a man at a home in Charles County after he charged at them while wielding a machete, the Sheriff’s Office says.\n\nThe deputies were at the home attempting to serve an arrest warrant on the man.\n\nThe Charles County Sheriff’s Office says around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 11, deputies were in the area of Newport Circle and Cobbler Place in White Plains where they were trying to arrest an individual who had a warrant and a protective order stemming from multiple domestic-related incidents.\n\nAccording to the Sheriff’s Office, as the officers approached, the individual pulled out a large machete and advanced towards them with the machete raised. Two officers then fired shots at the man.\n\nThe deputies immediately rendered medical aid, including CPR, until emergency medical personnel arrived.\n\nDespite all life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.\n\n**READ MORE:****Man shot, killed as Charles County deputies attempted to serve warrant**\n\nThe deputies involved were wearing clothing identifying them as Charles County Sheriff’s officers and they were equipped with body-worn cameras.\n\nThe Sheriff’s Office also says the suspect was found to be wearing a tactical vest and what appeared to be body armor.\n\nPer Maryland law, the Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID) was notified, and they are now investigating.\n\nThe deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.\n\nThe IID will provide further updates and additional information on the incident.",
