In January 1979, the Iranian masses brought down Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, America’s favorite Middle Eastern dictator. The movement of the Iranian people astonished the world and shook the foundations of American imperialism in the region. Though it ended in counterrevolution, the early phases of the Iranian Revolution are an inspiring example of the power of the working class.
