"textContent": "_The Forest Grove Police Log is written by the Forest Grove Police Department. News in the Grove does not write, edit, or alter the contents of the police log._\n\n* * *\n\nDuring this time frame, Forest Grove police officers were engaged in 471 incidents, both reported and self-initiated, averaging 67 calls per day.\n\nThese are a few of those calls:\n\n * A caller requested police check on a neighbor whom they saw about a month prior packing up luggage but hadn’t seen since. The caller further advised that they regularly watch a lot of crime shows on TV and this incident checked several boxes to indicate the neighbors were likely inside the residence deceased. Officers found the house secure and no sign anyone was dead or otherwise incapacitated.\n * Forest Grove Police responded to an assault with a weapon in Gaston where multiple callers reported a man was shot in the street. Officers detained the suspect and performed CPR, however, unfortunately, the victim did not survive. Officers assisted with interviewing witnesses and preserving the scene until Washington County deputies arrived. The suspect was arrested and lodged at the jail.\n * Officers were called to an early morning domestic disturbance where an argument about the deployment of bug spray was reportedly escalating. The individuals were advised to separate and leave each other alone until cooler heads could prevail, which they agreed to do. No crime.\n * Police received an anonymous report that someone was hit by a vehicle near a major intersection, but was unable to describe the person, the vehicle, or provide any further details about the incident before hanging up. Officers searched the area but were unable to find anything or anyone that suggested an incident occurred.\n * Police were called to a report of a rear-end crash on Pacific Avenue. Fortunately, there were no injuries and damage was minimal. Unfortunately, the driver had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and lodged at the jail.\n * Police are investigating after an apartment complex employee attempted to get into the unit of a previous residence only to find the locks had been changed and items that did not belong to the previous tenant inside.\n * Police responded to a local church where an unknown suspect attempted, unsuccessfully, to steal gas from one of the church vehicles. The suspect was gone upon police arrival, but no similar or related incidents were reported in the area.\n * A caller reported a driver was slumped over the steering wheel in his car at a stop light in a major intersection in the middle of the afternoon. Officers located and stopped the vehicle nearby where the driver explained that he was exhausted from working a lot, adding that he was on his way to pick up some ice cream and get some rest. He was advised about the dangers of driving when tired; he agreed to make sure he was fully awake before continuing on his journey.\n * A caller reported their neighbor’s wind chimes get very loud when brisk breezes are blowing. Officers suggested they reach out to their neighbor to discuss the matter.\n * Police were called regarding dogs left in a vehicle on a warm day. Officers contacted the owner nearby and found the dogs were fine. The Forest Grove Police Department reminds the public to take care leaving pets or children in a vehicle on even a mildly warm day when temps can easily rise inside.\n * A caller reported that someone was allegedly filming patrons in the restroom of a local business. No other related or similar incidents have been reported since; officers are investigating.\n * Night shift officers responded to a local watering hole where a man reportedly got into a physical altercation with other patrons and was now refusing to leave. On arrival, police sorted out that physical contact had indeed occurred and the man was subsequently arrested.\n * A donation center reported an inert grenade had been turned in. Upon inspection, police found it to be a hollow, novelty item.\n\n\n\nDuring the week, officers also made 98 traffic stops, 29 welfare checks, and 17 arrests.",
