During this time frame, Forest Grove police officers were engaged in 519 incidents, both reported and self-initiated, averaging 74 calls per day.
These are a few of those calls:
- Police were called to a reported prowler attempting to pick the lock at a multi-unit residence in the middle of the night. On arrival police located the man who lived at the location attempting to get into his residence. No crime.
- A caller reported a man sitting on a bicycle near a busy intersection dressed as a samurai. Officers were unable to find anyone in the area matching the description, but did not rule out that the samurai, as samurai often do, had changed his appearance or was using a disguise to blend in.
- A patrol sergeant rolled up on a road rage incident in progress, during which one driver whipped out a knife and struck the other driver’s window, stating he was angry because the other driver “cut him off.” He was arrested for menacing and unlawful use of a weapon and subsequently lodged at the jail.
- A caller reported his residence had been broken into and that several thousands of dollars had gone missing, property had been damaged, and multiple bottles of premium imported lager had been consumed (and left behind) by the presumably thirsty burglar. Officers are investigating.
- Day shift officers responded to a location along Pacific Avenue where a vehicle had been seen crashing through barricades, going air-borne, crashing off road, and finally coming to a stop in a parking lot. On arrival, police found the driver was not injured but noticeably intoxicated. He was arrested for DUII and later found to have a BAC well over the legal limit.
- While on patrol, a swing shift officer spotted a man known to have an outstanding felony warrant out walking his dog along Pacific Avenue. He was arrested without incident on the warrant and lodged at the jail; his dog was placed in the custody of his brother.
- Officers are investigating after a local store reported a shoplifter walked off with approximately $800 worth of ammunition.
- A local business reported that a customer was inside the location and threatening staff after having issues with his credit card. He was gone prior to police arrival but soon located further down the street. After a brief struggle, he was detained and later arrested for menacing and disorderly conduct. He was lodged at the jail.
- A caller reported seeing a group of juveniles walking through an alley carrying beer late at night. Officers were unable to find anyone in the area matching the description.
- Police responded to report of a bicycle rider being struck by a car at an intersection along Pacific Avenue. No injuries were reported and both parties remained at the scene; the vehicle driver was issued a citation.
During the week, officers also made 80 traffic stops, 29 welfare checks, and 10 arrests.
