Oregon’s state government is informed, advised, and led by volunteers on more than 265 boards and commissions across a wide range of topics.

In May, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek selected five Forest Grove residents for positions on some of those boards.

Her selections will go before the Senate Committee on Rules in Salem on June 15, where lawmakers are tasked with confirming or denying the appointments.

“The Governor is committed to ensuring that all Boards and Commissions represent the diversity of the state,” a press release from the Governor’s Office read. “This is an opportunity to pool our collective viewpoints, visions, and hopes for Oregon — and all residents are welcome and encouraged to apply.”

The five Forest Grove residents appointed are:

  • Jared Thompson — Oregon Board of Dentistry (partial 4-year term)
  • Maddy Cain — State Board of Denture Technology (3-year term)
  • Lourdes Herencia — Commission on Hispanic Affairs (4-year term)
  • Angel Falconer — Land Conservation and Development Commission (4-year term)
  • Nate Pratt — Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon (2-year term)

More information on volunteering at the state level can be found online.
