Washington County mails ballots for May 19 election

Washington County Elections has mailed ballots to more than 400,000 registered voters for the May 19 election. Voters who haven't received their ballot by May 5 should contact the Elections Office at 503-846-5800 or Elections@WashingtonCountyOR.gov to request a replacement, the county said in a press release. Ballots are due by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, May 19. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before that date and received within seven days. Ballots received after May 26 will not be accepted, regardless of the postmark date. Washington County also mailed its Voters' Pamphlet this week, which can be viewed online. Selected portions are translated into Arabic, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Farsi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese at Oregonvotes.gov/WashingtonVP. The county has 21 official drop boxes, all accessible 24 hours a day. Local drop box locations include: * Banks City Hall/Library, 42461 NW Market Street * Forest Grove City Library, Pacific Avenue near Birch Street * Cornelius City Hall/Library, 1355 N Barlow Street * North Plains City Hall, 31360 NW Commercial Street Voters who need help with their ballot — including reading assistance, in-person Spanish interpretation or visits to assisted living facilities — can call 503-846-5800 to schedule an appointment with the Elections Office. Voters can also sign up for BallotTrax, a free service that sends real-time updates by text, email or voice as a ballot moves through the system. More information is available at WashCoVotes.org.
