News in the Grove has partnered with the Friends of Historic Forest Grove to republish articles from the group's quarterly member magazine, The Friendly Gazette. The partnership will bring historical articles from the magazine's archives to News in the Grove's growing local history section. "I'm thrilled to partner with the Friends," said News in the Grove founder Chas Hundley. "I'm building News in the Grove from the ground up section by section. Between sharing their work and our popular '50 years ago today' column, I'm proud to say we'll have the strongest history section of any local newspaper." "What we can do together is greater than what we can do as individuals, and we should do it. Our common history is our heritage and our community is our future." The Friends of Historic Forest Grove is a nonprofit committed to preserving local historic properties, buildings, documents and artifacts. The group operates the A.T. Smith House, maintains a museum and library, and hosts tours of historic homes, the cemetery and gardens. It publishes The Friendly Gazette quarterly for its members. As part of the partnership, each republished article will include a link to the Friends of Historic Forest Grove website and note the original author and date of publishing. "When I pitched this idea, I said that we'd be happy to share a link to the Friends of Historic Forest Grove website in everything we republish, perhaps gaining the group new members," Hundley said. "I'm proud to say I myself am a member. It's $25 a year, and not only do I support their work, I gain access to the Friends of Historic Forest Grove's extensive library and archives, which has bolstered my reporting on current events, too."
