"textContent": "_Melody Haveluck is a member of the Gales Creek Garden Club._\n\nCome celebrate with us for the 50th Anniversary of the Gales Creek Garden Club on April 15th starting at 2 pm, at the Gales Creek Community Church.\n\nIt all started 50 years ago when Elaine Jacky and Asta Silverthorne decided to organize a garden club. Starting with eight charter members the club quickly grew. In April 1977 they joined the Pioneer District of National Garden Clubs Inc. and participate in activities for 30 years. First meeting in members homes, the club steady grew and started meeting at the Gales Creek Church. Founding Charter Members: Elaine Jacky, Ester Jossy, Lois Nelson, Marcella Parson, Marcia Peterson, Gladys Shorb, Asta Silverthorne and Iola Van Loo.\n\nGales Creek Garden Club to celebrate 50th anniversary in AprilThe Gales Creek Garden Club, established in 1976, is inviting present and former members, members of garden clubs in the western Washington County area, and Gales Creek community members to a celebration to mark their semicentennial.News in the GroveChas Hundley\n\nThrough the years, the Gales Creek Garden Club (GCGC) was known for its local entries in the Washington County Fair with beautiful and distinct bouquets of flowers. The group went also went to Oregon State Fair winning blue ribbons throughout the years.\n\nFifty years later the garden club is going strong. Long standing members include Sherry Nelson (over 25 years) and Joyce Sauber, who joined in 1993 and has been influential in keeping the club going while serving as president for the majority of that time. The club enjoys programs and field trips to increase their knowledge not only on gardening the benefits of enjoying the beauty that the earth has to offer.\n\nMark your calendars and be sure to stop by for cake and refreshments. The history of the club and all the wonderful members and activities throughout the years will be on display. While visiting with current members and other gardeners learn more about how gardening enhances lives.
