The Forest Grove Aquatic Center will close March 16 through early June for another round of upgrades to the decades-old facility — the second consecutive spring shutdown for the building. This year’s work includes replacement of the 25-year-old pool deck with a non-slip surface, refreshed locker rooms, and plumbing upgrades throughout the building. The city said the improvements “will help ensure a more modern, accessible, and long-lasting facility for our community to enjoy for years to come.” The city said there will be no additional maintenance closure later in the summer, as other needs will be addressed during the spring shutdown. Last year, the facility closed from March 3 through June 2 for replacement of 50-year-old pool tile and repair of pool gutters. The aquatic center, at 2300 Sunset Drive, houses two pools, a hot tub, splash park, water slides, a sauna, and a birthday rental room. Parks & Recreation staff will continue offering programs and activities throughout the city during the closure. For information, call 503-992-3238 or visit the city’s website.
