BOKEELIA, FL — Coconut Island Market is currently open as a convenience-style market and is preparing to relaunch with hot food service by mid-May at 7573 Raymary St, Units A-B, Bokeelia, FL 33922. Owner Gabriella Ortiz told Business Debut the market will begin serving food around mid-May, with preparations starting earlier in the month.

What to Expect

The concept will continue to operate as a convenience market while adding quick-service food options geared toward grab-and-go customers. Ortiz shared with Business Debut that the addition comes in response to demand from local workers seeking fast lunch options.

Menu items will include tacos, hamburgers, burritos, fruit cups, and aguas frescas, with the ability to order ahead for pickup. The focus is on speed and convenience, with potential for outdoor seating in the future, Ortiz told Business Debut.

The market will also continue offering a variety of packaged goods such as snacks, drinks, and household essentials, operating similarly to a neighborhood bodega.

Menu and Vision

Ortiz said the goal is to provide accessible, quick meals for the local community. “There’s a lot of workers… looking for something quick to grab and go,” she told Business Debut.

In addition to hot food, the market carries Mexican ice cream bars in a variety of flavors through a distributor, expanding its selection of ready-to-enjoy treats.

Opening Timeline

The market is open now, with hot food service targeting a mid-May launch. Ortiz told Business Debut they are aiming to begin food operations around that timeframe.

As part of the same plaza, Ortiz’s sister, Niurica Ortiz, is also preparing to open Elegancia Beauty Spa in a neighboring unit, targeting a June debut, Ortiz shared with Business Debut.

Hours

Food service is expected to run daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Ortiz told Business Debut. Hours may adjust over time.
