ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — Zephyr Chills is targeting a mid-May opening at 6536 Unit H Stadium Drive, Zephyrhills, FL 33542, according to owner Darrell Lake Valencia, who owns the business alongside his wife Nikki Lake. Valencia told Business Debut the timeline could shift slightly as final preparations continue.

What to Expect

Zephyr Chills will debut as a walk-up shaved ice shop with a streamlined, easy order system. Valencia told Business Debut the initial focus will be on shaved ice, alongside a small lineup of items like popcorn, soda, and dirty lemonades, with plans to expand the menu over time.

The space will operate without indoor seating, centered around an order and pickup window. Valencia said the setup is designed to be simple and convenient, with a few picnic tables out front offering about 8 seats for guests who choose to stay and enjoy their treats.

Menu and Vision

The menu will start simple but is designed to grow over time. “We’re going to start off with shaved ice, then as we get our feet under us, we’ll start adding more,” Valencia told Business Debut.

Guests can expect a lineup centered on shaved ice, along with items like popcorn, soda, and dirty lemonades. Valencia said they plan to expand into smoothies and boba teas as the business evolves.

The approach reflects a shift from the couple’s previous full-service restaurant in North Carolina to something more relaxed. “This is kind of our retirement,” Valencia told Business Debut.

With a smaller footprint and walk-up format, Zephyr Chills is designed to be an easygoing, family-run spot. Valencia said his son, Zak, will also be involved in day-to-day operations.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting a mid-May opening, though Valencia noted it may be slightly later depending on final setup and approvals.

Hours

The planned hours are Tuesday through Sunday, with Mondays closed. Valencia said the shop is expected to open around lunchtime and operate until approximately 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with adjustments to come based on demand.
