Mouse study sheds light on how the brain recognizes stable patterns in changing scenes

Humans and many other animals can innately recognize familiar objects in their surroundings, irrespective of the angle they are observed from, changes in lighting or other shifts in the surrounding environment. This ability is known to be supported by a process known as generalization, which allows the brain to respond similarly to different sensory inputs that share some common important features.
