IsaacOS is chill

I’ve been getting back into gaming as a hobby. Something about the space that I forgot is people have a tendency to be… not chill, about things. Sometimes people’s love for a thing can flip into something else when their energy is misdirected. So I’m always on the hunt for other voices that are chill and also unique. This is where IsaacOS enters the chat.
I discovered his YouTube channel when I was exploring the Boox Palma device. But I stayed for his videos on gaming handhelds. I say that, but one of the things I like about his videos is that there’s always another layer to the writing. Like this video on The Terrifying Power of Nostalgia. Nostalgia and retro gaming go hand-in-hand pretty naturally, but he goes deeper, and ultimately it’s about finding joy in a chaotic world. Here’s a few other quick examples:
- When your favorite games never end
- The Steam Deck has already made history
- Why I keep choosing worse handhelds
As a former video editor, I also really like his editing style. It’s polished, colorful and animated without being Mr. Beast-level obnoxious. He also has his grandma regularly appear in his vidoes, and she’s the GOAT.
Even if retro or handheld gaming isn’t your bag, check out the channel and pick a video that mildly interests you. I bet you’ll see the same charm I do.
