FARM encourages submissions from across art, craft, and design, including textiles, visual art, music, 3D...\n\n\n ========================================================================\n 14th ACM SIGPLAN International Workshop on\n Functional Art, Music, Modelling and Design\n (FARM)\n Call for Papers, Demos, and Performance\n Indianapolis, August 24\n Deadline: June 1\n https://icfp26.sigplan.org/home/farm-2026\n ========================================================================\n\n FARM 2026 is the 14th edition of the ACM SIGPLAN International\n Workshop on Functional Art, Music, Modelling and Design (FARM).\n\n The ACM SIGPLAN International Workshop on Functional Art, Music,\n Modelling and Design (FARM) is co-located with ICFP and gathers\n together people who are harnessing functional techniques in the\n pursuit of creativity and expression.\n\n Call for Papers, Performances, and Demos\n ========================================\n\n The ACM SIGPLAN International Workshop on Functional Art, Music,\n Modelling and Design (FARM) encourages submissions from across art,\n craft, and design, including textiles, visual art, music, 3D\n sculpture, animation, GUIs, video games, 3D printing and architectural\n models, choreography, poetry, and even VLSI layouts, GPU\n configurations, or mechanical engineering designs. Theoretical\n foundations, language design, implementation issues, and applications\n in industry or the arts are all within the scope of the workshop.\n\n In addition to the main workshop, FARM hosts a traditional evening of\n performances. Thus, this call encompasses both papers/demos for the\n workshop (and its published proceedings) as well as performance\n proposals for the evening’s event. Authors are invited to make a\n single submission for each. Authors may submit both a paper/demo and\n performance proposal, but the submissions will be considered\n independently. Performances may be of previously-produced work, and\n may be in any medium (including traditional acoustic performances) so\n long as the principles of programming (or actual programs) were used\n in their composition or performance.\n\n Papers\n ======\n\n Paper submissions are invited in three categories:\n\n - Original research\n - Overview / state of the art\n - Technology tutorial (especially tools and environments for\n distributed artistic workflow)\n\n Papers must be submitted via HotCRP, and meet the following requirements:\n\n - 5 to 12 pages\n - PDF format\n - Adhere to the ACM SIGPLAN template\n\n Accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library as part\n of the FARM 2026 proceedings.\n\n Authors are encouraged to submit auxiliary material for publication\n along with their paper (source code, data, videos, images,\n etc.). Authors retain all rights to the auxiliary material.\n\n Demos\n =====\n\n Demo submissions should describe a demonstration and its context,\n connecting it with the themes of FARM. A demo could be in the form of\n a short (10 to 20 minute) tutorial, a presentation of work in\n progress, an exhibition of some work, or even a performance.\n\n Demos must be submitted via HotCRP, and meet the following requirements:\n\n - 500 to 2000 words\n - Have a title starting with “Demo: ”\n - PDF format\n - Adhere to the ACM SIGPLAN template\n\n Accepted demos will be published in the ACM Digital Library as part of\n the FARM 2026 proceedings.\n\n Performances\n ============\n\n FARM seeks proposals for performances which employ programming\n techniques (or are generated by programs), in whole or in part. We\n invite a diverse range of functionally-themed submissions including\n music, video, dance, and performance art. Both live performances and\n fixed-media submissions are welcome. We encourage risk-taking\n proposals that push forward the state of the art as well as refined\n presentations of highly developed practice. In either case, please\n support your submission with a clear description of your performance,\n including how your performance employs functional programming and a\n discussion of influences and prior art as appropriate. If desired, you\n may use some of your performance time for a short lecture or\n presentation; this must supplement, and not take the place of, a\n primary performance.\n\n Performance proposals must be submitted via HotCRP, and must include:\n\n - A description of the performance (please be as specific as possible)\n - An explanation of the use of programming in the work\n - A list of technical requirements\n - A link to an audio or video example (YouTube, Vimeo, Bandcamp, etc.)\n\n Accepted performances will be presented at the performance evening.\n\n Notes on funding\n ----------------\n\n Paid registration to the FARM workshop is usually required for paper\n and demo submitters, but will be waived for performers.\n\n If you have financial difficulty attending, you can apply for the PAC\n funds. Please get in touch for more information.\n\n Contact\n -------\n\n For any questions, issues or comments, email\n farm-2026@functional-art.org.\n",
