They definitely aren’t like normal tools. Unlike emacs, there are studies coming out that suggest LLM usage actually makes you stupider when you cannot use them! (as in, reduces your cognitive ability. Whether that be actual critical thinking or just persistence or attention, it’s unclear) (if true, it’s a very convenient thing for Anthropic and OpenAI, isn’t it?) Stay safe out there, everyone.
