I understand your points, and I completely agree with your remarks about other flaws in the ecosystem that we must fix to avoid being left behind. However, I believe my opinion on agents is well founded; and I think it be good if we get used to using agents and take the best out of this new technology. Of course, nobody can force you to use agents; but if person A is developing faster than person B, then person A will get the contract. I think that person A will be the one using an agent.
