If you want to get the best of both worlds (play well with IO, actually restrict effects like we expect from Haskell) then the way you’ll get that is with an IO-wrapper (or “analytic”) effect system (your realistic choices are Bluefin or effectful, and if you want any help with Bluefin just let me know).
