"textContent": "My observation is that 90% of the packages I use are maintained by maybe 10 people in total. I call these people _«élite universe maintainers»_. These 10 unsung heroes do a lot of boring work, such as bumping version dependencies when new `base` is released. Maybe 8 of them never write anything on any social media, so I have no idea what is going on in their mind. These people are also the real power that decides what changes and what stays the same.\n\nI do not understand the motivation of these heroic maintainers. From what I can tell based on their tone of writing in the issue trackers, not one of them enjoys their work — they all wish to do as little of it as possible. While I agree with the consensus that the Haskell ecosystem is mostly abandoned, I wonder why it is not even more abandoned than that. What is the driving force? Is it money? Or something more abstract, like power or, who knows, love or dedication?",
