This is going to become a real problem for open source projects. My understanding is that the LLM generated code does not have a copyright and determining whether someone has made enough of a modification to be “transformative” from the perspective of copyright is going to be difficult without lawyers. I genuinely don’t know how to resolve this without wishful thinking and pinky promises.
