O/\n\n_Just write_.\n\nThat's the advice writers, would be and are... _Just write_.\n\nVan Gogh told another painter something like, \"If a voice tells you that you can't paint... paint. And paint and paint. Only by working will that voice be quieted.\"\n\nSo, writers with your blocks... shut up.\n\nAnd just write.\n\nKindly said, of course.\n\nIt's not like you suddenly forgot how to make a sentence, so make a sentence.\n\nWhat's called writer's block, any creative block at all actually, is a matter of specifics.\n\nIt's not that you can't write; it's that you feel you can't write _that_.\n\n_That_ being whatever you want to write about.\n\nHere's the cure, and Van Gogh knew it too: Just write or paint or create anything at all.\n\nMaking art of any kind is a physical process, and objects and Artists tend to stay in motion unless interrupted.\n\nSo shut up and stop getting in the way. Just write, paint, draw, play music.\n\nStick figures! Nouns and verbs! Notes and sounds!\n\nIt's what the first line in every Wonder Fell morning post is for... takes the guesswork out, gets the pen moving.\n\nArtists, this is work.\n\nWriters, every sentence made is a fulfillment of your profession.\n\nOur work is all giving with no guarantee of worldly return for our time spent laboring.\n\nAll acts of Art are acts of generosity.\n\nWe share of ourselves what we value most in the craft best suited to ourselves.\n\nFor some it's words, others lines and brushstrokes, others the melodies and harmonies of music.\n\nLife is ultimately about sharing Life. All Art is a conversation rooted in generosity.\n\nThis journal, these poems, this Epic I work on, are all ways to speak with you, for you, for us.\n\nVincent saw a starry night a certain way and thought he might help you to see it that way too.\n\nVan Gogh didn't need paints to see his starry night; you do.\n\nMark Twain didn't need pen and ink to go on adventures with Huck and Tom; you do.\n\nBeethoven didn't need a piano to hear the moonlight's sonata; you do.\n\nAll Art is generosity.\n\nWe can tell so much about a culture by the Art it values.\n\nAmerica's been a quick shock treatment entertain me now connoisseur culture for a century or so now.\n\nBut there's more to life than speeding it up.\n\nThere's quiet considerations.\n\nA sunrise. A sunset. The wag of a dog. The purr of a cat. What laughter is for. And love. And wonder. And love.\n\nWhat happens when you read, see a painting, hear a song?\n\nHow do you know me?\n\nMy dreams are here.
