"textContent": "\n\n\nIn today's GB News Daily Reflection, we embrace the Bible's vision for love. It's costly, it's courageous, yet it endures when everything else fails.\n\n\"Many of our modern notions of charity are inspired by a Victorian ideal. It was an age of organised benevolence, philanthropic endeavours and almsgiving.\n\n\"Whilst the motives of this era were perhaps sometimes mixed, the principles were at least ostensibly Christian. But, you know, the biblical word rendered charity in our old King James Bibles more accurately means love. It was more commitment than committees, if you like.\n\n\"In fact, the Greek word used by Jesus and Saint Paul to express the highest form of love was agape. I love that is unconditional, selfless. It incurs sacrifice.\n\n\"Perhaps Saint Paul's most famous words are quoted at weddings. Love or charity is patient. It's kind. It doesn't envy or boast. It's not proud. It doesn't dishonour. It is not self-seeking. It's not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Whenever I officiate at weddings, I often turn to the bride and groom at this point and say, this is what you're signing up for. Love is a lifelong lesson in sacrifice and selflessness.\n\n\"In a world where love and charity can become merely transactional, and virtue is about signalling rather than sincerity. We embrace the Bible's vision for love. It's costly, it's courageous, yet it endures when everything else fails.\"\n\n**WATCH ABOVE.**\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
