"textContent": "\n\n\nIn October 2024, Rhiannon Whyte was murdered by an illegal immigrant, Deng Majek, from Sudan.\n\nOn the evening of October 20, 2024, Rhiannon had finished her shift and walked to a nearby station to get the train home.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nMajek attacked Rhiannon, stabbing her 23 times tragically killing her.\n\nI’ve met Rhiannon’s mum, Siobhan.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nSiobhan has said: “It’s not fair that an illegal immigrant could come into the county and do this to my daughter.\n\n“Why doesn’t the government stand up and do something?”\n\nIt’s a good question.\n\nUnder this Labour Government, over 74,000 people have crossed the Channel.\n\nSir Keir has presided over more small boat crossings than any other Prime Minister.\n\nCases like Rhiannon’s are why public trust in the government on immigration is so low.\n\nPeople vote for illegal immigration to be ended.\n\nThey vote for foreign criminals to be deported.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nBut it does not happen.\n\nThat is why the Conservative Party has a plan to restore democratic control over the immigration system.\n\nWe must leave the ECHR and repeal the Human Rights Act so we can deport all illegal immigrants within a week of arrival.\n\nWe must also reform asylum.\n\nIllegal immigrants like the Sudanese man who tried to behead Stephen Ogilvy in Belfast should not be able to claim asylum at all.\n\nThey should be rapidly deported.\n\nUnder our new system, any asylum claims from someone who has arrived legally will need to be supported by real, hard evidence showing a genuine risk of personal persecution.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nPersecution means threat to life, imprisonment or torture, not a less generous welfare system in their home country.\n\nWe can implement this change by amending domestic legislation.\n\nWe need to end the use of modern slavery claims as a basis for people to stay in the UK.\n\nThis will mean leaving the ECAT Treaty and amending the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and other domestic legislation.\n\nWe will completely abolish the Immigration Tribunal and abolish Immigration Legal Aid.\n\nImmigration decisions should be made by the Home Office with a quick internal appeal process.\n\nWe have seen reports recently of legal advisers helping migrants pose as gay to get their asylum claim accepted.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nWe will put an end to this farce.\n\nFinally, Judicial Review of immigration decisions and policy should be severely curtailed.\n\nWe will only allow Judicial Review of immigration decisions or policy on the grounds that the government is acting outside its statutory powers.\n\nOnly radical action will return control over the immigration system to Parliament and take control away from the courts.\n\nAs Home Secretary, I would use this freedom to deport all illegal immigrants within a week of arrival and all foreign criminals.\n\nThe public, rightly, expects our borders to be controlled. And this plan will do it.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
