Nearly 100 people have been evacuated as a huge late-night fire ripped through an industrial estate in London.

Dozens of fire engines and over 100 firefighters have been sent to the site on Oxgate Lane in Brent to tackle the blaze.

The London Fire Brigade has advised residents near the area to close all doors and windows as huge pillars of black smoke fills the sky.

"Twenty-five fire engines and around 150 firefighters, along with four turntable ladders, have now been mobilised to the warehouse fire in Brent," the emergency responders said on social media.

Over 60 calls have been made to emergency services in response to the fire, which was first reported at 9.14pm.

Oxgate Lane is now completely closed to traffic, the London Fire Brigade has said.

Four of the brigade's turntable ladders have also been deployed to the scene, with a "High Volume pump" and a "Hose Layer" being used to combat the inferno.

Video of the blaze shows it lighting up London's night sky.

Crews from Hendon, Willesden, West Hampstead and surrounding fire stations have all been called into extinguish the fire.

The building on fire is a two-storey multi-use warehouse building.

Most of the building's structure and roof are currently alight, the London Fire Brigade said.

Around 70 people from a nearby residential block have been evacuated as precaution during firefighting operations.

Edgeware Road has also been closed between the junction of Dollis Hill and Staples corner.

The cause of the fire remains unclear.

Earlier that night, London Fire Brigade had reported that 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters had been reported.

A London Fire Bridge spokesman said: "Four of the Brigade's turntable ladders are deployed to the fire on Oxgate Lane, Brent. A multi-use warehouse of two floors is fully engulfed by flames.

"This will be a protracted incident, with crews carrying out firefighting operations over night."
