"textContent": "\n\n\nChinese manufacturing giant BYD has shown off its revolutionary Flash Chargers in the UK for the first time as it looks to build on its dominance across the country.\n\nBYD has given the first demonstration of the Flash Charging technology at its UK headquarters in front of impressed VIP guests, including executive vice president Stella Li.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe Flash Chargers, alongside the latest Blade Battery 2.0, are able to charge an electric car using a staggering 1,500kW through a single connector.\n\nThis allows drivers to charge their electric cars from five to 70 per cent in just five minutes, in a move that could eliminate concerns around long charging times.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nTRENDING\n\nStories\n\nVideos\n\nYour Say\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nBYD's \"Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3\" tagline promises incredible charging speeds, with plans for the technology to be rolled out further across the UK in the near future.\n\nWhen leaving an EV charging for nine minutes, drivers can charge their cars from 10 to 97 per cent, quicker than any other commercially available charger.\n\nEven when travelling in temperatures as low as -30C, the Flash Chargers can charge from 20 to 97 per cent in 12 minutes.\n\nBYD used the Denza Z9GT as its test vehicle for its UK demonstration, with the electric supercar coming from the brand's premium sub-brand.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe Z9GT will become the first vehicle on the UK market that is capable of accepting Flash Charging when it launches soon.\n\nBased on its electric range of 372 miles, five minutes of charging can add 223 miles of range, while waiting another four minutes will add 323 miles.\n\nCommenting on the successful debut, Stella Li, EVP of BYD, said: \"The first demonstration of Flash Charging in the UK is another significant landmark for the technology.\n\n\"Flash Charging's ability to make our second-generation Blade Battery ready in five minutes, full in nine minutes, and to add just three minutes in cold weather sets a new standard for the future of premium mobility.\"\n\n### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS\n\n\n\n\n * Labour could launch in-car restrictions to crack down on driving offences under fresh plans\n * Union warns Labour will 'decimate auto industry' by not 'radically reducing' electric car targets\n * Motorists swarm to Chinese EVs as 'affordability' concerns see drivers back foreign cars\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nBYD highlighted how the Flash Chargers do not require significantly more power from the infrastructure grid than any other public EV charger.\n\nEnergy for the Flash Chargers is provided by on-site battery storage, which is topped up throughout the day when required.\n\nThis can be as little as 100kW or as much as 560kW, depending on driver demand at the charging site.\n\nBYD has confirmed that 300 Flash Chargers are planned to be installed across the UK by the end of the year, which will include Denza stores and other locations.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n###\n\n\n\n\nThe Chinese automaker also noted the benefits of the T-shaped charging unit, which makes it easier for drivers to charge and avoid damage since they are not dragging the unit along the floor.\n\nMs Li added: \"Our Denza brand is driven by technology that inspires, and witnessing Flash Charging today, as shown by the Z9GT, is truly inspirational.\"\n\nBYD continues to accelerate its impressive start to sales in the UK, with 31,553 sales so far this year, capturing an impressive 3.41 per cent of the market share.\n\nIn addition to a 113 per cent jump in year-on-year sales, BYD is also outselling established Western brands like Citroen, Land Rover, Mini and Tesla.\n\n###\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**",
