Christian Eriksen has shared he is "feeling good" after collapsing on the pitch during Denmark's friendly against Ukraine.

The former Tottenham midfielder said his "recovery has already started" after being released from hospital.

Eriksen said: "I want to let everyone know that I am doing well and that I am home with my family.

"As you can probably imagine, receiving a shock from my ICD has had a major impact on both me and my family, but I want to reassure everyone that this was a different situation from what happened in 2021.

"For now, my focus is on recovering, spending time with my family, going on vacation, and playing football with my children."

The former Manchester United midfielder was transported from the pitch by ambulance following the incident in the second half.

Officials decided to cancel the match completely instead of continuing the game.

Denmark had been leading 2-1 when the game was halted.

Broadcast footage captured the moment Eriksen placed his hand against his chest before collapsing to the ground, at which point cameras cut away from the scene.

The incident evoked memories of June 2021, when Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark's European Championship match against Finland in Copenhagen.

On that occasion, medical staff performed life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the pitch before he was rushed to hospital, where doctors were able to stabilise his condition.

Following his recovery, Eriksen was fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator, a specialist device designed to regulate heart rhythm.

Despite the severity of that episode, the midfielder made a remarkable return to professional football just eight months after the incident.

He eventually secured moves to Brentford and subsequently Manchester United.

Erisken then moved to Wolfsburg in Germany, where he has played 31 times so far in the Bundesliga.
